Georgian gold and smoky quartz intaglio fob

This is a wonderful Georgian gold (18k) fob,
which is set with a faceted, smoky quartz intaglio of a family crest with a
dividing line.
Three running greyhounds or whippets are on one
side, with another hound opposite.
On this side three thistles grow from the center
of a V, two above the hound, one below.
There is carved scrollwork all around the
outside of the crest, and it is concave, leaving a raised seal when pressed
in putty or wax.
Beautifully done.
