A rare pair of 17th century Stuart crystal earrings, which are commemorative of King Charles II, were created in silver and gold.

These earrings have been closed-back set  with a crystal with embossed gold work to the underside in the entwined C’s design of Charles II (1630-1685).

The stepped table-cut octagonal Stuart crystal is set over a silver foil with a pink wash, and the entwined CC all visible through the crystal.

The stones measure 10mm side to side, and 12mm diagonally.

The crystals have two cuts from the table to the girdle. They are by necessity mounted square to read the monogram, and measure 3/4" overall, which includes the gold backwires with stops, or wig-ears.

This type of crystal work dates from the 1600’s; the wonderful memento mori Stuart crystal pieces were uniquely created in England.
