NEWSLETTER - October 23, 2012

We're home!
We returned to Conway just over a week ago, following our annual Fall buying trip in England and a brief vacation in Rome. During our time in Europe we were blessed with good weather and good buying. Now, after a few days of anxiety (see below), our new stock has arrived, and we've begun the marathon process of preparing, photographing, and pricing, to get everything ready for showing at our Fall Opening in November. Consequently, this newsletter will be brief, but we trust you'll find something newsy and interesting. Please have a look.

Our next show

No New Listings this Month
Because we reserve so much new stock for our semi-annual Openings, we don't list any new stock in our October Newsletter. Look for several new listings in November's Newsletter, which should go online soon after the Opening. It should be worth the wait.
Another FedEx FauxPas
We'd had remarkably good luck during our two weeks of visiting dealers, shows, and shops in England. As we headed for London from our final delivery to our shippers on Friday afternoon, we were confident that we'd once again managed to assemble a shipment of furniture and smalls that would generate an exciting and successful opening in November. But the Customs gremlins were about to strike again. More.

The Italian Connection

"Italians don't drive. They just aim."

I can't remember the book or its author, but this sentence has stayed with me for decades. And it's reinforced every time we visit Italy. more

The Back Page
Walking through Rome on our recent vacation, we were sure that we'd spotted the reincarnation of Charlton Heston on his chariot in that famous battle scene in Ben Hur. But as we got closer, we realized that we'd been fooled! The horses were missing. Click here to see the apparition.

We hope you've enjoyed this month's newsletter. Perhaps we'll see you at our opening in the 10th and 11th.
