A large, hammered oval brass sconce engraved with an image of St. George and the Dragon

The two principals are framed in a series of decorative patterns, including gadrooning, a prominent raised oval ring, and other linear and textured motifs. At the top is a Tudor rose.

The bracket below the figures indicates that there were originally two protruding arms, each holding an arm and a candle socket. Those have been lost, and we’ve made no effort to replace them, feeling that the brass reflector makes a very strong statement without them.
