A 19th century mahogany mortar

A solid chunk of mahogany, turned into a shallow bowl with rounded edge.

Undecorated, with excellent color and surface.

While it may once have had a turned pestle, it is now most useful as a simple receptacle for coins, jewelry, or trinkets.

 English, late 1800’s
