An elegant example of this early 18th-century form with effectively detailed stems and characteristic bases with eight “petals”. The stems of these candlesticks were cast in two halves, which were soldered together. They were then spun and the tenons cast in their bottoms were inserted into holes in the bases. They were then peened tight. Evidence of this process is seen in the concave undersides of the bases.
