A small playing card holder disguised as a cutlery box

At a glance, a miniature 18th century cutlery box in a lovely burl veneer.

But upon opening the lid, we find that the interior is divided into three compartments, each the size of a deck of playing cards.

The face is fitted with a brass latch, and the lid lifts on attractive brass hinges.

A wonderful, whimsical addition to a gaming table or den.

English, mid-19th century

Width: 3 ½”; Height: 5 ¼”, Depth: 4”
