English Sheffield tray with faux tortoise inlay

This amazing tray is marked MARA, Sheffield, England, with 'B E' in Gothic letters on the base. This silver (plated?) tray is quite lovely. It has an undulating gallery with a gadrooned rim, and a detailed pattern flows all around the base. The walls of the tray are pierced with gothic arches and diamond shapes, and there is an integral handle at each end. The inner surface of the tray has been paved with faux tortoise shell in 16 sections with demilune silver inlay at the gallery rim, tapering to join at an applied silver oval central mount. There are four stepped circular feet to the base.
