Simple in form but lavish in decoration, this little caddy is veneered in a highly figured burl (walnut?), enhanced by an inlaid banding around front, lid, and sides and inlaid fan spandrels in the corners of face and lid.

The box itself appears to be of oak.

An interesting box in good condition.

English, ca. 1790
