A beautiful candle holder in rosy brass.

The shaft and socket were cast in two parts, then joined and turned, resulting in the seams so prized in candlesticks of this period. These seams are visible in the right light. The turnings include two knops and more than a dozen scribed lines.

The broad base, with an appealing scalloped edge, was cast in one piece and turned; seven scribe lines embellish the base.

The removeable bobeche echoes the scalloped edge of the base and contains two concentric scribe lines.

This is a beautiful period candlestick, and the only one of its type we’ve ever seen.

French, 1720- 40

Diameter of base: 4”; Height: 6”
