Made of cast bronze, this useful hearth utensil stands on three legs and has a long handle to allow the cook ample distance from the hot coals. The reeded handle is marked “2 WS”, perhaps signifying its capacity, and the initials of the maker. Another skillet with the initials WS and similar details is online as I write this; the seller states that his piece may have been made by the brassfounder William Seymour of Cork.
Probably Irish, 1790 – 1810
Diameter: 7 ¼”; Overall length: 15 ⅛”; Height: 4 ⅞”
Price: $225
