A handsome walnut table salt

Turned from a single block of figured walnut, this small vessel is both useful and attractive. The deep bowl is supported by a short stem, articulated and made prominent by the turnings at its top and bottom. The wood has fine figure and outstanding color, and the rim, the dish at the bottom of the bowl, and the top and the exterior of the base have been ebonized with narrow painted black bands.

There is a tight crack in the base, extending to the outside of the bowl but not to the inside.

This is a beautiful and extremely tactile object for the table.
