A small valuables box with smoke decoration

A simple veneered box with hinged lid, bone escutcheon, and working key. The lid has sloping edges, and the sides of box and lid cant slightly outward as they rise. The ends of the box are fitted with lion’s head handles with rings, and the box sits on small button feet.

The exterior surface has been decorated with smoke in a pleasing, though random manner. The painted interior is lined with paper. There is a small, triangular veneer repair at the lower right of the face.
