The scimitar knife blade is signed “Greaves & Sons; Cast steel”, and the two-tined fork appears to be stamped “steel”. The maker, Francis Greaves (c. 1796-1844), was an important Sheffield cutler, who devised an improved method for attaching horn to steel. Both pieces have their original iron ferrules.
