A particularly attractive example of the late 17th-century Iberian form. The square base is formed with an integral drip pan, and the spool-shaped socket sits upon a graceful barley twist stem. The brass has a warm lustre, probably the result of a higher percentage of copper in the metal than in most brass pieces of the time. Excellent patination underneath the base. The coarse-threaded screw at the end of the stem fits snugly into the base. In excellent condition.

Spanish, late 17th century

Base: 4 ¼” square; Height: 5”
