A large, early bronze mortar

A dramatically shaped mortar, with unusually contrasting diameters between its stepped base (4 ⅜”) and rim (6 ¾”). The entire surface is richly patinated, and the turning marks on the outer surface are still visible, though very worn. The underside of the base is decorated with five concentric, turned circles.
