An early leather-covered dome-top box

We’ve had many boxes of this type, but never one with this amount of applied brass  decoration, from the bosses with which the exterior is studded to the rectangular brass plates adorning face and top and the embossed frieze that traverses the face of the lid. But even more noteworthy are the cherubs on either side who appear to be working in a garden. Are they a reference to the occupation of the owner of the box?
