A fascinating object, probably from the transportable gear of a cleric’s baggage, used perhaps in administering the sacraments to a home-bound believer. The two halves, stem and bowl, are threaded so as to be assembled alternately in its useable or transportable form. We’ve had several of these over the years, but this is the only one with this particular shape. Also, we have never seen one with a tinned interior.
Probably French, ca. 1800
Height: 3 ⅞”; Diameter at rim: 1 ¾”
Price: $110
