Resembling its 17th-century ancestors, this cast iron pot with cast spout and forged handle was manufactured in the Chappée factory near Le Mans, France. The figures cast on its side indicate that it was made for the French national railway SNCF in 1938. Its use by the railroad is unclear, but it would appear to be a cooking vessel, designed to stand high above a bed of coals. We’ve never seen another.

Diameter of pot: 7”; Height: 12 ¼”

Price: $175
