Apparently, this box was the property of K. Burbank, a member of the 24th Battalion, possibly a combatant in the Spanish-American War in 1898. In addition to the name and the B.N., there are two scratched drawings on the lid; one of which may be a rifle.

Inside the box is a small slip of paper giving information about its acquisition: “Bt 6 – 26 – 13. Walter (and Alice) Sanborn’s estate sale. Chichester, NH. ‘K. Burbank’ may be from Pittsfield”

The box is in good condition, but for the loss of the upper part of the rabbet on one side in which the lid rides.

American, ca. 1890

Dimensions: 6 ¼” X 3 ¼”; Height 1 ¾”

Price: $145
