An exquisitely carved 17th-century paneled oak coffer.

The three arcaded front panels are set in an elaborate frame comprised of a carved frieze, holly and ebony inlaid stiles, and an inlaid bottom rail.

The lid, too, is paneled, as are the sides and back.

Inside the coffer is the original till with decorated lid.

One of the three cotter pin hinges has failed and a replacement has been added next to the broken original. Rear feet have been tipped.
