Charles I oak dresser

Charles I oak dresser, or hunt board, of exceptional length - nearly 8 feet.

Ball and disk turnings on the legs and applied split-spindles on the face.

Each of the three side-hung drawers is decorated with applied mouldings and fitted with a brass drops to suggest two drawers.

Each of the period brass escutcheons is cast with the figures of two rampant lions.

The medial stretcher is replaced.

The front legs bear the initials “M” and “B”. Excellent two-plank top.

English, ca. 1640.
