Late 17^th century walnut gateleg table

We recently purchased this handsome period walnut gateleg table from a Massachusetts estate.

It has strong turnings, exceptional patina, and a single drawer.

The leaves are hinged to the central piece with butterfly hinges on one side and butt hinges on the other, but the wear and color of the leaves match very well.

It has enjoyed many repairs over its lifetime, most notably minor restoration of three of the legs, replacement of the upper rail of one gate, and restoration of the thistle feet.

A lovely thing.
