An elegant table from the time of Charles II without apologies

The two-board top is shaped with a simple thumbnail moulding on all sides, and the drawer is framed with an applied moulding. Beneath the drawer is a simple applied horizontal rail. The legs and the stretchers, which form an H, are turned with spools and balusters in a pleasing pattern, and the feet are original.

This table was purchased at auction in England in 2005 for the sum of £2,200.

English, ca. 1680
