James I oak bible box

A stunning oak bible box, low and sleek and decorated with nulling on three sides. The bottom of the box extends beyond the sides and is decorated with an attractively planed moulded edge, and the ends of the front panel were treated with chip carving, adding a distinctive decorative touch while helping to preserve the integrity of the wood. Each end of the moulded lid is subtly decorated with a row of punched figures, framed by two scratched lines extending from front to back. The original cotter pin hinges have been replaced; otherwise the piece is in excellent condition
