A variant of the gateleg table, the credence table, with its single drop leaf is quite rare. The base is a parallelogram, usually with decoration on the front and side apron stretchers. This table is typical; its apron is shaped and decorated with running guilloches. Typically, the lower stretchers were given their detail by a moulding plane. The legs are turned quite simply, as if not to compete with the apron. The rear of the base has no decoration, since it would rarely be seen, whether the table was open or closed. The top is octagonal and is made of four boards, one of which has been repaired. The table has a good, old, dry surface.
