Stretcher-base one-drawer side table with applied mouldings on face

An attractive table with four nicely turned legs terminating in elaborate turned feet. The two-board top is edged on three sides with a simple thumbnail moulding, and the box-stretchers are treated with a simple planed groove at its center.
The most ornate feature of the table is its façade, on which the maker applied an interesting moulding. A similar moulding was applied to the face of the drawer, creating two rectangles flanking the central panel, which houses the lock. The brass drop pulls are replacements in the original holes.
Good color, excellent condition.
English, ca. 1680
Top: 35” X 21”; Height: 28 ½”
