A carved oak bible box

A deep box with shallow carving on its upper half and chip carving at the ends of its face. Perhaps its most remarkable feature is its back, which has bowed to such a degree that the hinges were pried from it. Fortunately, these original strap hinges were still present, although dysfunctional, and have been re-attached and are now functioning. The hasp and the working lock are also present. The outer cleats have been replaced, and two additional cleats have been added for stabilization.
