An early 18th-century walnut rope-twist candle stand

An exceptionally detailed form, with a scalloped top covered with burl veneer and attached to the standard with a turned plate. The standard is turned as a robust rope, and the three shaped feet elevate the stand only slightly above the floor.

The stand is in very good condition, with only minor restoration. Two of the feet have been tipped by less than ¼”, and iron straps secure them firmly to the standard.
