This 17th century bow ring of raised collet-set pyrope garnet stones was handcrafted on the Iberian Peninsula (Spain or Portugal) in the late 1600’s.

Set in 14ct gold and closed back, it features seven, flat-cut garnet stones in rub-over collets. The largest collet-set stone (5mm approximately) is raised on a dog-tooth mounting with applied cupid-bow designs leading to the stone. It is set between lobed trefoil shoulders with six (2.5mm) similarly-cut garnets, also in closed-back settings, dog-tooth mounted in gold.

There is notable decorative open-work bridge and arched design to the bifurcated shoulders with an applied gold lily where it joins the shoulders leading to alternating stepped designs and cyma scrolls undulating around the shank. The stones have a beautiful deep color, and the bow motif is very typical in this period.

It is in lovely condition. A true treasure, a size 8+ and very wonderful!
