Georgian heart-shaped rose-cut diamond ring

This stunning diamond heart ring set with a large, beautifully-faceted, rose-cut diamond in the earlier heart shape (no cleft), was created in high karat gold.

The rose-cut diamond (1.00 ct) has been closed-back set in a decorated bezel in silver near the diamond to help magnify the stone, and the mounting has a gold verso.

The gold shank joins the heart at the shoulders, and bears continuous engraving of flowers, shells, and foliation.

The diamond is wonderfully bright and lovely.

Because rose-cut diamonds are set flat, we can only measure “sight” of the stone, so the largest part of the stone is contained in the closed back part of the mounting. The rose-cut “sight” measurement is approximately 9.5mm top to bottom, and 7mm at the widest point; the bezels of the heart-shaped stone measure 11mm top to bottom, and 8mm at the widest point.

This glorious rose-cut diamond heart ring is Georgian, English, ca. 1790-1810, and measures size 8 1/4 on a straight mandrel (9 on a grooved mandrel).
