This is a regal, Renaissance (or Renaissance Revival?) pendant in silver, gold and gems.

Inspired by jewelry worn in Renaissance paintings, jewelers and artisans created pieces in this style. This pendant and bail were crafted in silver, with foliation in gold, and closed-back set with two large garnets, three tourmalines, and an aqua, as well as accented with natural (river) pearls.

It is hand fabricated and extravagantly decorated with graceful scroll work. In fact this piece is an enchanting celebration of elaboration!

The Renaissance Revival style was in great demand in the early to mid 1800’s in the Austro-Hungarian Empire under the influence of the Habsburg Monarchy.

The pendant and bail weigh 20.08g, and the measurements are 1 5/8” at its widest point, and 2 7/8” overall from the top of the special gem-set bail.

It has been fitted with a vermeil chain and clasp but may be worn from a silk cord or ribbon.

A glorious piece of history!
