Queen Anne flat-cut garnet paste haloed ring

This almandine garnet paste ring has nine flat-cut stones in a pleasing sunburst design with a halo surround which accents the inner round central stone. Each of the claw-set stones has a single facet at the girdle and a foil back which creates a beautiful color.

The reverse of the halo-set stones shows the pillow back setting typical of this period.

The original mounting of the stones is gilded metal. This ring has a bifurcated gold shank, which is a replacement.

The ring is currently a size 9 and is easily sizable. The sunburst mounting measures 15/16 of an inch.

England, circa 1750 and later.

[Though Queen Anne reigned from 1702 – 1714, the style of jewelry created after her passing was noted as ‘Queen Anne.’]
