This ring of raised collet-set rose-cut diamonds was handcrafted on the Iberian Peninsula (Spain or Portugal) in the late 1600’s. Set in 14ct gold with closed back, it features seven rose-cut diamonds in rub-over collets. The largest collet-set diamond (5.5mm approximately) is raised on a fine sawtooth base mounting with applied large dogtooth designs leading to the diamond. The diamond is set between lobed trefoil shoulders with six (3.5mm) rose-cut diamonds, also in closed-back rub-over settings, in silver.

The gold undulating shank of swirls and scrolls has open-work designs where it joins the bifurcated shoulders.

This a beautiful setting of the diamonds, and the bow motif is very typical in this period. It is in lovely condition for its age, with only a small nick in the bezel area of the central diamond.

A true treasure,  size 7.5 – 8. So very wonderful!
