A wonderful pair of Stuart crystal* earrings in silver and gold. The 17th century Stuart crystals are closed-back set with rosy-red foil and love tokens (woven fabric/hair) under the swirling gold cyphers.

The crystals measure 9 x 10mm in the gold mounting, These stepped, table-cut, rectangular crystals are closed-set in gold bezels over the red foil, love token, and gold cyphers, which are visible under the crystal. Below Stuart crystal there is a link from which a white baroque pearl is suspended.

The earrings measure 1 ⅛” overall, and have hinged gold backwires, which go in from the back of the ear. There are ‘stops’ or ‘wig-ears’, to keep them in place against the ear.

A rare commemorative of Charles I of England, who died in 1649, these Stuart crystal pieces were only created in England and are highly prized.
