A stunning Georgian giardinetti (little garden) ring in gold, set with asymmetric floral/leaf motifs. In the 1700’s the naturalistic taste for light and elegant jewelry--openwork settings using relatively small stones in the form of flowers and foliation--was very fashionable. The flowers on this example have been set with twelve gems of varying sizes.  Seven are rose-cut diamonds, three are rubies, and two are emeralds, all of which have been set closed-back amid flowing leaves. The gold shank (2mm) joins the shoulders with a shank of stylized cabbage roses and ribbons designs.

The ring is a size 7-7 ¼, and it is lovely and unusual.
