A stunning Georgian giardinetti (little garden) ring in gold, and silver set with asymmetric floral/leaf motifs. In the 1700’s the naturalistic taste for light and elegant jewelry--openwork settings using relatively small stones in the form of flowers and foliation--was very fashionable. The flowers in this example have been closed-back set with gems of varying sizes.  Six are rose-cut diamonds in silver, one ruby and an emerald set in gold. The tapering gold shank is ribbed and bifurcated with an applied floral decoration at the shoulders. The ring is between a size 7 - 8, the floral mounting measures ½” wide and 3/4”.  It is unusual and lovely!
