A stunning pair of English Queen Anne* period silver, rose-cut crystal earrings, closed back/crimped set in their bezels with amazing fuchsia pink washed foils. These are beautifully faceted rose-cut stones, measuring 18mm across the bezel, and the domed verso is wonderfully decorated with foliate patterns. Cupped backs like these are often seen in this era. These earrings are fitted with hinged gold backwires, which go in from the back of the ear. (Because the backwires have no stops, it would be possible to suspend drops from these earrings.) They measure 1” from the top of the earwires. English, mid-1700’s.
