This stunning gold and silver Georgian ring has a central mounting of silver which contains a foiled heart/teardrop diamond paste stone at its center, with two heart-shaped halo surrounds, all set with black-dot* faceted diamond paste stones. All stones are closed-back set, in silver for magnification. The gold bifurcated shank joins the central mount at the shoulders and becomes a D-shaped band at the back. This ring measures to a 7 ½ - 8 size. A very beautiful ring.

*The "black-spot/black-dot" pastes are so named because jewelers in the 1700's, and earlier, would sometimes rub a spot (or dot) of black, pitch-like paint across the flat cut or pointed bottom of the culet (under) of some faceted paste stones. It was often used to create the look of mine-cut or European cut diamonds or gemstones when the stone was viewed from the top (or table).
