A stunning 17th century ring created in 22k gold. The head of the ring has been closed-back set with a sparkling, oval faceted aquamarine paste stone of a stunning color, with a single angled cut to the girdle. There is notable decorative open work bridge and arched design to the shoulders and stepped engraving at the termination of the shoulders leading to a ribbed back shank. The rounded belly of the verso of the central gold mount has a rayed, or basket back and the ribbing is well defined. This lovely ring is English and currently measures size 6 ¼ on a grooved mandrel. The mounting’s shaped bezel holds the aqua paste over foil and is crimped at six points. This ring is rare, and amazingly lovely.
