This glorious gilt rivière necklace, has 25 large, oval, faceted diamond paste stones (each side graduates from 15 to 23mm) open-back set. The overall length of the clasped twisted gilt bezel-set stone necklace is 19 ½”, and it is secured with an engraved, gilt, rectangular tongue clasp. English, most likely Victorian. Translated from French word for river, these necklaces looked like reflections of lights on moving water. This is in lovely condition, and because the stones are open-back set, you may also wear it with the faceted side up for a ‘rose-cut’ effect. The size of the stones, and their weight, are truly amazing.
