A silver finger ring of post-Medieval date, early 16th century. This ring has been loved, and the central surface is worn from use. It is decorated with crescent moons, cyma scrolls, arabesques, and other designs [see images], as well as a merchant's mark [NA?] signet incised into the bezel, allowing it to be used as a seal matrix. The face of the hexagonal bezel measures 19x19mm. The shank has been folded to fit to the verso of the intaglio, each shoulder has engraving leading to the central back shank. This unusual ring may be English or Continental and was purchased by us in England. It is currently size 11.
