A black cat stands by as a man in a raincoat sits on a bench outside of a thatch-roofed English pub with a pint of ale in one hand and a clay pipe in the other. To his left is a multi-paned window, and high above, to his right, a metal rod displays the pub’s sign. This small, naïve, reverse-painted scene on early, distorted glass is set into a simple oak frame, reinforced by a modern Masonite back.
