An evocative French or Alpine Barbizon-influenced landscape.

A lone figure is walking along a path from a small barn in the background towards a large house with outbuildings on the right of the painting, apparently herding three horned animals, perhaps goats, headed for pasture. The sky appears ominous. Is a storm coming?

In an outstanding period frame

Probably French or Swiss, ca. 1880

Sight: 17 ¼” X 13 ½”; Frame: 26” X 22 ½”

Price: $1200
