Silver harlequin paste rivière type necklace

An unusual 1900’s rivière style necklace in silver, comprised of 17 paste stones.

The faceted, open-back, bezel-set stones are variously shaped (rectangular, round, and oval) and colored (diamond/clear, garnet/red, emerald/green, and sapphire/blue). The individual stones are 14mm and 12mm wide, and the stone section of the necklace measures 18”.

While it probably tied with a thin ribbon, someone has added an adjustable chain on one side and a lobster clasp in white metal, allowing the necklace to extend to 22”.
