Chapter 4: A Structure Begins to Take Shape -- Fall and Winter 2005 - 2006 -- p. 1.

Although our work was occasionally interrupted by snow,

we began to set roof rafters on January 19th. With our "crew" consisting of only the two of us, constructing a roof of this type for the first time, the first pair of forty-five degree hemlock rafters was the most difficult -- and the most terrifying!

After a while, we developed a routine and more confidence . . . .

and our roof began to assume the shape of the finished barn.
