Chapter 5: The Last Chapter -- February to December 2006

Another burning season was upon us, and we needed to take full advantage of it.

We again enlisted the services of our logging crew, and the four of us cleared some additional area and created the necessary materials for the porch which we planned to build some day connecting the house and garage.

After we had cut and milled the necessary materials, we once again said goodbye to Steve and Tom and began work on the barn roof. First we applied narrow spruce nailers, widely spaced to allow air circulation that would permit the cedar shingles to dry.

Completing the decking on the east side enabled us to climb to the ridge and survey the land from what would be the top of our tallest building.
