Virginia Strom Precourt preferred to work in solitude, for the last 45 years of her life in her ground-level studio—offering full-light exposure over a pond to her north and dappled daylight from the woods outside her door to the east. She never had much affection for the speed and chaos of cities. But even when her travels took her to an urban setting, she always kept an eye out for a touch of the natural that she cherished.
