Virginia Strom Precourt didn’t enjoy a moment of the piano lessons her parents forced on her, but she enjoyed music and had tremendous respect for musicians. Cellists, she thought, drew on a special kind of genius to create sounds. And she found the quiet but determined focus of this young musician irresistible.
