Pastel-leaf

32" X 49"

For decades, the fiercely determined “Auction Queen” was the centerpiece of a Boston-area family’s private collection. It captures the tense anxiety of an outdoor Maine sale in process, with this potential bidder shaded from the afternoon soon by a colorful Chinese paper parasol. The piece from the late ’50s was one of Virginia Strom Precourt’s early experiments with pastel leaf.
